On Sunday, January 8 an unidentified man drove a lorry onto a bustling sidewalk. As a result, local citizens, who were walking there at that moment, were hurt.
Local media reports that at least 15 people were injured.
Police reaction came immediately – soldiers opened fire on the driver and shot him dead. Reportedly, the attacker came from the Palestinian district.
Health care workers who arrived on the scene pronounced four people dead. Among 15 injured people, one person got a serious hurt, while four victims suffered moderate injuries.
Later, the attack was classified as an act of terrorism. It took place on the popular Armon Hanatziv promenade.
A police officer Luba Samri said that the attacker aimed to kill soldiers who got off a bus just before the accident.
