- The company Bentley was established to produce cars for rich and sporty gentlemen. Wolfgang Durheimer, the director of the famous concern, said the next company's car would be a sports coupe instead of SUV or so called luxury "tank", with which the firm is associated over the last 50 years.
The first race car and the well-preserved one is the Bentley EXP 2 model. In May 1921, the company's chief engineer Frank Clement won the Junior Sprint Handicap race, held on the track Brooklands, using this car. It was the first victory of Bentley in car racing.
- In 1928, the victory in the Le Mans 24 Hour race was achieved by Woolf Barnato, the chairman of Bentley Motors. Obviously, he drove his company's car.
- The model Bentley 4½ Litre has brought the popularity to this company. At different times, the firm produced more than 700 cars on the chassis of this model in various bodies.
- Bentley 6½ Litre was innovative for its time. It was a sport coupe in the body, made by the studio Gurney Nutting. This car was produced in various options and became the real cure for the company, that was making both ends meet. Thanks to the sportsman and businessman Woolf Barnato, the firm was able to stay in the market. He believed in it and became the head of Bentley Motors.
In 1929 and 1930, an elegant car Bentley Speed Six brought the victory to the company in Le Mans car racing.
- The modern Bentley models are also impressive. For example, the sport modification of Bentlry Continental GT3 has long been successfully participating in the GT circuit racing. The car is able to increase the speed more than 320 km/h.
- Experts believe that this is how the Bentley long-awaited novelty will look like - sports car Bentley Barnato. It is expected, that it will resemble the prototype EXP 10 Speed 6, presented last year.
