The major persons of the year in the Russian Twitter were Vladimir Putin, actor Alan Rickman and Donald Trump.

Notably, the third most popular tweet in the world in 2016 was the announcment of Hillary Clinton about her failure in the presidential race. The second place was occupied by the tweet of one of the One Direction musicians, the first place was taken by the tweet of Spanish gamer El Rubius.
