One of the latest high-profile events in Russia has become a criminal case, instituted at the beginning of this week to the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev. He was accused of taking bribes in the amount of $2 million and extortion. The lawsuit was filed by Rosneft. During the investigation A. Ulyukayev, according to the decision of the Basmanny Court of Justice, should be under house arrest.

Another high-ranking official, who didn't escape justice, proved to be the Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Petrov. In 1998, he was arrested on suspicion of taking bribes from the Escada bank's management. The investigation revealed that Petrov transferred to the bank 160 billion non-denominated rubles for federal programs. The official spent 3 years under investigation. Later, in 2001, according to the results of the examination, the Petrov's signature on the application on opening a bank account has been recognized as fake.

Fifteen years ago Nikolai Aksenenko, the Minister of Railways and First Deputy Prime Minister, was accused of abuse of office and embezzlement of 70 million rubles.

In 2001, Valentin Kovalyov, the former head of the Russian Ministry of Justice, was conditionally imprisoned for 9 years. At his post the official repeatedly took bribes, not only money, but also apartments and land plots. At the same time, from the "social security fund of civil rights", organized by V. Kovalev, more than 1 billion rubles was stolen, of which more than 740 million were transferred to the personal accounts of the official.

Evgenii Adamov (the second from left in the photo), the former Minister of Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation, was arrested in Switzerland on the US request 11 years ago. He was accused of embezzling $9 million, intended for Russian help. By early 2006, the official was taken to jail "Sailor's Silence" in Moscow. After 2 years, E. Adamov was sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony, and later he was given a suspended sentence.

The Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak was under investigation for almost a year. He was arrested in 2007, with the CEO "Sodeksima" and the head of the Interregional Investment Bank, accused of embezzling $43.4 million from the budget. The criminal case against officials was closed 5 years ago for lack of evidence.

Alexei Bazhanov, the Deputy of ex-Minister of Agriculture of Russia Elena Skrynnik, didn't evade justice. Three years ago, he was arrested on the case of "Rosagroleasing", but he managed to escape abroad. Last year, the investigating authorities suspended the case of theft of about 1 billion rubles due to the absence of the accused.
