U.S. pending home sales for March will be published at 10:00 am ET Wednesday. Ahead of the data, the greenback firmed against its major counterparts.

The greenback was worth 128.11 against the yen, 1.0548 against the euro, 1.2563 against the pound and 0.9692 against the franc at 9:55 am ET.
