Germans advised showering less to save gas

As the Russian energy embargo talk intensifies, some German politicians have come up with rather unusual solutions for energy saving. For instance, Germans have been advised to cut back on their heating and hot showers to help the country reduce its dependence on Russian energy.

"You will have to ask yourselves a question, whether you really need to take a hot shower seven days a week – with gas heating," the head of the Federal Network Agency of Germany, Klaus Mueller, said. Mueller warns that should Germany cut supplies from Russia, gas reserves in the country will last until the end of summer or early autumn. Notably, Klaus Mueller was previously responsible for the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Thus, these hygiene-related sacrifices will surely help the country economize energy consumption, German officials believe.

German Economy and Climate Action Minister Robert Habeck suggested another way to save money by replacing cars with bicycles or trains.
